Day 8: Abbiamo viaggiato molto

We left Borso della Grappa and set off for Lake Como. Things did not start smoothly since George forgot to reserve a cab to take us to Bassano. We missed our train so we had to take a bus to Padovo. The bus was late, then broke down, so we missed our train to Milan too.

We have a Eurail Pass, so we were able to reserve seats on a later train to Milan when we finally got to Padova around 2. We scarfed down some pizza and jumped on the train as the conductor was blowing his whistle.

We are riding 2nd class, which is very comfortable, and the scenery is great.

The train to Milan was delayed, but luckily only by 15 minutes so we were able to catch the train to Milano Nord Bovisa, which enabled us to catch the train to Como. There was colorful graffiti along the way.

We arrived in Como with 45 minutes to spare in order to catch the last ferry of the day to Bellagio. Como is a lovely town. We were able to get gelati and stroll along the waterfront.

Here's the ferry we rode to Bellagio. It was dusk so the light was beautiful but a bit dim for photos. We were rewarded for our travels with a delicious dinner of mussels, dried lake fish, grilled calamari, and sea bream.
